OBMEP field crews are beginning to flag sites to intensively sample stream habitat and riparian cover
at Annual and "Panel 1" sites. Once the major transects at sites are flagged, crews will return to the sites at base flows (late June - September) and collect a variety data on gradient, grain size of substrate, channel form, thalweg depths, and riparian vegetation. Data are collected in a customized electronic data template, which synchronizes the data with a centralized SQL database back at the office. Data are used in the Ecosystem Diagnostic and Treatment (EDT) model of habitat status and trends in the Okanogan Basin as they relate to salmonids at various lifestages.
